Just some practice with watercolours. The idea was to do small studies, keeping things as simple as possible but I kept getting carried away and doing unnecessary, fidgety stuff before I had the basics right so I'm going to start again and really try to focus this time. Just thought I'd upload this batch before I go on.
these are simply amazing! i envy your skill with watercolor. is that an elephant swimming? ughh, i fell in love. the scenery is all so lovely, i cant decide which i really like. i do like the cave one for how we're looking out from it, and the waterscape with the leaves travelling down it is also very beautiful. thanks for sharing!
Thanks very much. I kept them this size because, ideally, they should work best on a small scale. Although, I suppose it is difficult to isolate one when they're this small and so close together. I'll upload a slightly bigger one in a minute.
thank you! Yes, that is an elephant swimming. It was from an article in National Geographic about how Elephants may have originally been more aquatic, hence their bulk, trunk and their noticeable pleasure when swimming. I assume the last point is why they chose a photo that makes it look as though the elephant is laughing
Those green shapes in the waterscape you mention aren't actually leaves (although that's what they look like in the painting). They were slaps of stone underwater that caught the light in such a strange way that they looked like they were glowing green. It was a strange photo. Unfortunately it's not online so I can't link you to it to see for yourself.
Oh I love elephants so much! I know that they liked to swim but I didn't know that! How interesting. Look, art can be really educational without being in your face. Haha.
And oh! That sounds really beautiful. It sounds like you come across a lot of beautiful images~
That 'cityscape' is actually one big, ugly cement factory. I love clouds too but I tend to photograph them. I can't really capture them properly with paint.

But maybe the most that i like is the cityscape with the dramatic clouds on the back. I'm a sucker for cloud formation.

There are a great many people in the country today, who through no fault of their own, are sane.
