It was 's birthday the other week and I was going to do a painting for her until, in a frankly bizarre turn of events, I found myself up against literally the toughest competition I could imagine in doing a painting for her. The only way I thought I could compete was to do something different and I've wanted to get into collage stuff lately. Mostly because of *gregoriousone and ~CSISMAN

Very lovely. I really like the harsh, almost bloody colours combined with the cruel innocence of the child. It's almost like this is a real situation, something that really happens, as if children walk around with flying lightbulbs. And perhaps they do. What I'm trying to say is; you made something less then real recognisable and understandable. Excellent job.
One little nitpick though. Why the lettering in the upper-right corner? I understand it looks nice to have something there, but it does say '(h)oly gra(il)' and I find that a bit redundant...
Keep up the good work.:D

About the text. When I had the idea for the pic, I did the sketch and then I wanted the top third to be thick with newspaper text (some of it relevant to the idea, some of it not). So I cut up loads of paper, slapped it on and painted over it. That you can still read that particular headline is an accident, and when it came to naming it (for the purposes of DA) it made as much sense as anything else. Typographically, I'd say you're probably right. If it's not important, maybe it shouldn't be that readable but, compositionally, I don't think it overpowers the pic so I don't really see it as a huge problem. Ideally I would've used non-english text but I obviously didn't have that much access to it :)

looks different indeed - might be because it isnt cute for once lol :P

i love it though, why i couldn't tell... maybe the colors or the composition :shrug:
